Sony PlayTV receives HD update

Sony has announced that the PS3’s PlayTV hardware add-on has been updated to allow users to watch high-definition television.
Version 1.21 of PlayTV will let owners watch, pause and record high-definition TV for DVB-T standard broadcast.
That means in countries where free digital HD channels are broadcast, people will be able to tune in for a bit of gratis high-definition viewing.
Unfortunately, that won’t be the UK, as Freeview’s upcoming HD channels will be broadcast in the DVB-T2 standard.
The good news is that the update also provides better standard definition upscaling, so your normal channels should look better on your HD TV.
